Like BeOS
Did a fast BeOS remake, using BeOSWin and Efx only (+ a few icons offcourse).
Win to BeOS
Sorry for the Dutch babbles on the shot
If you look at it closely you can see "Programma's" right under "Programs" in the first cascading menu. Somehow I think it should automaticly fill with the contents of the start-menu ... but it doesn't.
I made a new folder under C:\Windows\BEOSmenu called "Programma's" and that was accepted (as shown in screenie).
I think it goes wrong because the program was originally made for Win 95.
Anyone has any clues?
I like this look man, really do. My question is though, is BeOS still avialable? Is it nice? Is it better then Windows, or at least headed in a better direction then Windows? How small is it? Didn't they go out of buisness?
Ok, more then one question, but I'm really curious. What about the apps we run with Windows, are they compatible? Could you run BeOS exclusively, and still use the apps we use now?
If all answers to these questions would be good answers, and mainly the ones I need to hear, I'de switch. I really would.

If I wouldn't loose my app compatibility, that would be enough, maybe.
Good job though on the top, looks very nice.
The last real (Free) BeOS was BeOS 5 Personal. Shortly after it came out Be Inc. was terminated (taken over by Palm I think). It should be available still, somewhere.... just Google for it
There are a few groups continuing the BeOS (under a slightly different name) somewhat like it was a Linux distro. You'll have to Google for that too...
As for windows apps beeing compatible with the BeOS... forget it! There are still nice apps to be downloaded from several Be-related sites though. Going over all the way doesn't seem to be a problem (yet).
I would definately have BeOS running beside Windows 98SE, if only I could figure out a way to get it connected to the internet through my COM25 cablemodem. Chello doesn't support the BeOS.... silly people...
I've searched the Net high and low ... to no avail....
You can (offcourse) read more about the BeOS makeover here on VP.... in fact it would be
right about here .
i like it, looks really goo, and i love the icont style of BeOS, great job iamabyte.
Thanks spyder, though I didn't have to do much about it. Just fired up two apps (beoswin and efx) and threw in a few icons.
Shamefully I forgot to get rid of the shortcut-arrows on the drive icons.
I posted it because I was stunned by the fact I needed so little to do this. I've been at it for months to make my desktop into a KDE one.
MediaLeft ..... shame on you ....

Wow, lot's of info on this OS. Thanks guys for the replies, really helps me out. Yeah, I saw that Palm had bought them out, hated to see that too. Should definately be someone developeing the OS for maximum stability, compatibility, and so on.
I'll probably click that link, and download it anyway, regardless of compatibility issue. I'd really just like to see how it works.
Thanks guys once again.
