Only icons in taskbar
Dunno if anyone here is still active (Where's WinT? AIM/MSN___?) But I was wondering if anyone knew a way to only get icons in the taskbar, and no text...
At the same time, if someone could list any hidden characters in XP for me, I replaced all text in my start menu with "&" So that's hidden but I still get an underline...if there were any other true hidden characters that'd be swell.
Thanks for any help
HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktopWindowmetrics
"
MinWidth -2310
Size of items in taskswitch area of taskbar. One pixel equals 15, again. If you set it somewhere around -300 (experiment, depends on taskbar/captionbar height), you can have only icons displayed there (but not in XP, due to taskbar grouping (enabled or not) - it gets smaller though).

create a new string value "MinWidth" and give it a value (300). or something you want. (logoff / logon and see what happens)

Just out of curiosity, would you know how to backup/restore my registry if something goes wrong?
right click on 'windowsmetrics' icon (in regedit) and choose export from the menu. if any problem occurs you can use this "backup" .

(by double click on the exported registry file)

Oh my, this is golden. Is there a way to increase the size of the icons in the taskbar?

Yeah, by increasing caption button size I increase the size of icons on the taskbar...Is there any way to not increase the caption buttons though? Because if not then I'd have to go captionless for the vs to look any good.
