From the looks of the screenshots on their site alot of that can be replicated with an array of ShortPopUp's and a clever use of arranging folders, icons and AutoHotkey scripts. The weather feeds and remote controls would be harder to achieve, maybe links to apps that do these things or custom guis mapped to the same controls is acceptable? I'm guessing you might be looking for something a little more self-contained.

yeah, that stuff is way over my head. I'll just hold out until somebody comes up with a free version. If only I wasn't so cheap!!!!

All of the things this piece of software does can be accomplished with other programs and likely with a much smaller hit to your system resources.

SPU for the menus, Kapsules or Samurize for the weather, etc , etc. Look around VP for others. I may only speak for myself, but I get much more enjoyment out of the actual process of modifying my machine than I do out of using the final outcome. Poke around and try new things. Most are not hard to learn once you apply yourself to the process.
