ok i tried to get Linux working on my pc, but both versions i tried didn't like my pc. :P

i tried mandrake 9.0 and redhat 9. both didn't like my pc.

my dad has offered to install Win2k on my pc along with the already installed win98se.

i know win2k has alpha blending, and was woundering what the best way to customise it?

whats the best way to TC it, hehe Total Conversion if you don't know.

any ideas. whats the best OS X bar for win2k. the one that sits at the bottom.

J, an infrequent member of the forums, is currently running mandrake on a few machines, if you're still interested in trying.

2k can do pretty much everything xp can execpt visual styles and fully updated I would say it is a much better os.

I can't say much about modding it. I used it before I started really changing things and all I've ever done to it was change stuff gotten at through display properties. It does run litestep 24.7 well from what I've heard(if you want to try and get it to act a little like *nix)

hey, deathmedic3rd, have you read this thread at a-s?

http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/index.php?showtopic=11741

your choices:
1. windowblinds.
2. objectbar for the osx finder bar on top.
3. shellwm to skin windows +
4. alternative shells (probably the best one). dartbra made some litestep themes that incorporate an osx bar (so you won't need objectbar). http://ddose.tk/

thanks dreamz.

i've read the thread now.

i've had bad expriences with litestep :(

i'll give shellwm a go, and use winmac, had good experience with it. :)

whats the best shellwm skin? for mac look?

well, i think litestep has come a long way. dartbra has done an amazing panther theme, so you might want to give it a shot.

i can't think of any shellwm skins at the moment, but if you post at a-s, maybe someone will know. and you could probably search through some skin archives for shellwm skins.

There are several Mac looking skins for ShellWM on the website. Between ShellWM, 3dcc, and t-clock you can do about everything xp can do, on 2k. The only loss is the 32 bit icons.
All of the docks work great on 2k once you install the gdiplus.dll I think it is. Good luck, 2k is a fun OS.

whats this gdiplus.dll? im using MobyDock and it's working fine.

One or more of the docks require it. You'll know when you need it, if you try more of them :)

i don't think y'z dock requires that dll. it's probably objectdock, since y'z dock doesn't work on 2k. does it have to do with the rendering engine?
