How do i block a webpage?

i'm not sure if this is the right site to ask this on, but maybe someone could just point me to a page that might help.

i want to block a webpage from being accessed by my computer. how do i do this

If you want to block a whole domain:

Start > Run > notepad "%windir%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts"

Add the line:
0.0.0.0 SiteToBlock.com

You can also use 127.0.0.1 in place of 0.0.0.0.

Open Internet Options -> Goto Security -> Select Restricted Sites -> Click Sites

How about a proxy? Would that work too? And would the SiteToBlock.com trick work on 98 and for no IE browsers?

the hosts file thing that undefined mentioned will work not just for browsers, but for anything that tries to connect to that address. a proxy would work just as well, but the hosts file is probably much easier to set up

Red: Yes, but it's in the system folder instead of system32. If you want, you can pick up an ad-blocking hosts file here:
