Ok, did it not need a new thread? Maybe not, but was so happy I couldn't resist. I found the "Folders" title, renamed it successfully, and no hex editor required.
After over 100 dll files, the 100th being the correct one, this is where it's at:
SHDOCLC.DLL -- STRING TABLE #189
It's right there, all by itself, in plain view for the world to see. Rename or delete, your choice. So, we found the bitmap, able to change it, or delete it, and now the title is under our control as well
The explorer folder tree will never be the same again

Forgot to add -- It seems that the title can be as long as you want it to be too, or at least, until it reaches the bitmap, where the old default ugly X once was

It all makes sense for it too be there. Nice one WInT... Now how about finding the + and - of the SysTreeView, because I don't want to believe that it can't be done...

Now how about finding the + and - of the SysTreeView, because I don't want to believe that it can't be done...Well, I know you don't want to believe, I know that, and I don't want to either, and I am looking, but like Grigri said, it's part of the treeview control itself, and I don't believe we'll be able to alter it, but you never know

Thank god you found it WinT! I'll add this to the list if it's not there already. Good luck with finding those + - signs, i won't have time to help you look for them until this weekend. but anyway, nice find WinT!
*edit: i'm guessing there are other titles for the other explorer bar panels in this dll too?
