Desktop Background, but in the folder view?!
Boo...
I'm trying to do something I used to do in in 98 (ok, my other box still has it, but you know what I mean). I'm trying to put a background on the desktop folder.
It was easy in 98. Change the folder image for C:WindowsDesktop directory and your done. No big deal.
In XP it doesn't work that way. I tried it. I don't know what else to try. Any ideas?
So, why do this? I just work with the folder a lot and want it to look nice. In explorer I hide the icons, and in LiteStep I turn off desktop icon modules. I found I liked having it show in a small, mobile, list view, rather than a full desktop.
I'm open to other ideas. Sadly most replacements don't give the best access to system folders.
I have to check, but I think that's the method I used.
>.< The problem is that the "desktop" isn't really a folder. I might ask the guy there; I really miss that feature from 98. This sounds like something GriGri would have to make a lil app to handle. I hope not, but I get that impression.
What I might look into is hooking a LS desktop module to a box. Then I would have complete control. A custom height/skin !popup might do the trick, even.
WinSteps WorkShelf is tempting too.
Eh... maybe I should just break down & start working from the "C: directory".

Okay, not in the window context menu, but there's a regualr easy-access stupid-user option to set folder backgrounds individually somewhere...
