Mapped Drives Keep Renaming Themselves
I have 3 drives that I map every reinstall:
On my newest install, these keep getting renamed to the default , or more accurately, I keep losing my custom names.
These keep changing to:
I see the registry entries getting added when I rename them under
HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerMountPoints2
but they are randomly disappearing... I've never had the problem before and was wondering if anyomne has a solution? TIA!

- Media (M:)
- Storage (S:)

- Download on XPServerApps$ (L:)
- Media$ on XPServer (M:)
- Storage$ on XPServer (S:)

what if you change the permissions on "MountPoints2" regkey to read only?
i used to use set reg keys and after set it read only (for system and for my username) if a reg key changes back / restored somehow it usually does the trick.

Good idea, des. I even contemplated it but chickened out I'm afraid to change permissions for the whole MountPoints2 key, since it's used for other devices. But as a test I changed the permissions for the first drive only. I figure if the test works, than I'll apply it to the other keys.
I'll post back after I've tested for a while and let you know.
